We were recently informed that our HP printer is out of warranty and will no longer be supported. Our printer is now producing an information page that warns we may not be connected to Instant Ink anymore. So does the end of warranty mean that we are no longer eligible for Instant Ink? This old printer is working perfectly, and we would like not to be forced to buy a new one. Please advise.

Welcome to the HP Community --
Loss -- or end -- of Warranty is meaningless in the sense that the printer does not suddenly become unusable.
The hardware Warranty is limited to the terms issued with the contract -- this is generally a limited hardware guarantee issued with a new printer for the period of one year. No, I don't know why you would suddenly see a message concerning the original (and expired) hardware warranty for an old printer.
What else? "Not supported" might be a message that means that parts (trays, for example) will no longer be available for purchase from HP. This is not usually a concern for most people since old printers are perhaps recycled when the mechanics fail.
Online support, including Software & Drivers, User Guides, and Troubleshooting information, are typically available for about ten years. It is true that the time frame might be a bit shorter or longer based on the product.
Not connected to Instant Ink is usually separate from other issues and might indicate that Web Services is not running.
================== =====================
Web Services
Web Services is used to connect the printer to the Internet in general with the added "bonus" of having to connect to HP Services at the end of that journey. Web Services then recognizes the printer and hands it to whatever service is "next". For example, Web Services might hand your printer to ePrint, Instant Ink, HP+, or certain Cloud services.
