Have been printing successfully

from my HP 7200 Envy Inspire using WiFi Direct as I currently have no WiFi at home.  Suddenly yesterday printer would no longer print via WiFi Direct and displays a message saying that “Your printer cannot print until it is connected to the internet…” How can I fix this? Urgent.

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand that you are unable to connect the printer to wifi direct, I am glad to assist you.

Restore the printer to the original network settings

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch Setup.

2. Touch Network Setup.

3. Touch Restore Network Settings. A message appears stating that the network defaults will be restored.

4. Touch Yes.

5. Print the network configuration page and verify that the network settings have been reset.

Turn on Wi-Fi Direct

1. From the printer control panel, touch or swipe down the tab at the top of the screen to open the Dashboard, and then touch Wi-Fi Direct.

2. Touch Settings.

3. If the display shows that Wi-Fi Direct is Off, touch Wi-Fi Direct and then switch it on.

Thanks for this reply.

Unfortunately, I came unstuck at step 5 - "Print the network configuration page". When I try to do that I get the same message as before: "The printer cannot print until it is connected to the internet. Connect your printer to the internet with either a WiFi or Ethernet connection to enable printing."  The whole point is that at the moment I have no Internet in my house and so was happily using WiFi direct to print directly from my laptop. This worked fine for several weeks but it stopped a few days back when any attempt to print was greeted by the same message as above. I'm wondering why the printer now 'needs' an internet connection when it didn't before.
