My printer was working fine until I made an attempt to connect it to a PC I use the iOS platform as a rule but I have no connection whatsoever. My iPad shows there’s a printer but when I attempt to print no printer can be found

@Festoolgeek, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you're having trouble printing from your iPad after trying to connect your HP printer to a PC. Let's get your printer reconnected and working with your iOS device again.

Restart Everything

  • Power off your printer, iPad, and Wi-Fi router.
  • Wait 30 seconds, then power them back on in this order: router → printer → iPad.

Check Printer Wi-Fi Connection

  • On the printer control panel, print a Wireless Network Test Report or navigate to Wireless Settings > Wireless Summary to confirm it's connected to your Wi-Fi.
  • If not connected, reconnect it:
    • On touchscreen printers: Go to Wireless Setup Wizard.
    • On button-only models: Press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons until the power light blinks, then use WPS on your router.

Ensure AirPrint is Enabled

  • HP printers support AirPrint, which allows printing from iOS without extra apps.
  • Make sure your printer and iPad are on the same Wi-Fi network.
  • On your iPad, go to Settings > Wi-Fi and confirm the network name.

Try Printing Again

  • Open a document or photo on your iPad.
  • Tap the Share icon → Print → Select your HP printer.
  • If the printer doesn’t appear, tap Select Printer and wait a few seconds.

Reset Network Settings (if needed)

If the printer still doesn’t show up:

  • On the printer, Restore Network Defaults (usually under Settings > Network > Restore Defaults).
  • Reconnect to Wi-Fi using the steps above.

Use HP Smart App (Optional)

  • Download the HP Smart app for iOS. HP Smart
  • It can help detect and manage your printer, and even reinstall it if needed.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
