Suddenly, lost the WIFI icon on my menu screen.  Will only work if I plug in ethernet cord to back of my router.  Have already followed instructions shutting down modem, then router then restarting printer.  NO WIFI option.  Will not allow me to set up a wireless connection.  This is a new problem.  Have been using this printer wirelessly for quite a few years.  Please help!!!!!

This ALSO happened to me today as well.  Lost scan to one of my emails ability this afternoon.  I can scan to the other email I had set up under Shortcuts, but that email isn't on this computer.  So I tried a solution, of unable control panel.... NOW, my wifi is complete gone from the printer, I can't even use setup network, the wireless icon is completely gone and light is not lit, all reports show nothing - no network connection.  Did a demi full reset thinking it should reset that as well.... Nope.  I can't hookup ethernet as my router is upstairs, I'm downstairs along with my desktop computer.  NO USB cable.... have no idea where that possibly can be for the printer.   How do I get wi-fi back on my printer??!!!!  I have no IP address so can't load it in my browser window.    UGH, This should not be rocket science...

Hi @SkyKing99

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for posting your query! We're here to help you get back up and running.

It sounds like your printer's Wi-Fi functionality has been disabled or is experiencing a glitch.

Here are some steps to help you troubleshoot and restore the Wi-Fi connection:

1. Reset Network Settings

  • On your printer, navigate to Settings > Network Settings > Restore Network Defaults.
  • This will reset the Wi-Fi settings and allow you to set up the connection again.

2. Enable Wi-Fi Setup Mode

  • Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wi-Fi icon) and the Cancel button simultaneously for about 5 seconds.
  • The Wi-Fi light should start blinking, indicating that the printer is in Wi-Fi setup mode.

3. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • Use the Wireless Setup Wizard on the printer's control panel to reconnect to your Wi-Fi network.
  • Follow the on-screen prompts to enter your network credentials.

4. Use the HP Smart App

  • Download the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device.
  • Open the app and follow the instructions to add your printer and reconnect it to Wi-Fi.

5. Check for Firmware Updates

  • Visit the HP Support website to check for and install the latest firmware updates for your printer. Firmware updates can resolve bugs and improve connectivity.

6. Inspect Router Settings

  • Ensure your router's settings are compatible with the printer. For example, the printer may not support 5 GHz networks, so make sure it's connected to a 2.4 GHz network.

If this solution hits the spot, please come back and click "Accepted Solution" to help others find the answer. And if you'd like to say thanks, select "Yes" on the bottom left of the public post, as that would make our day! 😊

Take care, and have an amazing day!
