My printer was offline then the installed printer disappeared and it shows I have no installed printer and I can't figure out how to reinstall it

Hi @RoyNS,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

I hear you that sudden “offline” feeling turning into nothing there at all can be really unsettling, almost like the printer just vanished out of the system.

Let’s slow this down and pin it properly. Also, I need a few clear details from you:

  • What’s your printer model?
  • Are you using Windows or Mac?
  • When you open printer settings now:
    • Do you see no printers listed at all, or just not yours?
  • When you try to add it again:
    • Does it show up briefly and disappear?
    • Or is it completely not found?

Also, take a quick look at the printer itself:

  • Is it powered ON and steady (not blinking or showing any error)?
  • What’s the Wi‑Fi light doing, solid or flickering?

One important thing I want to understand:

  • Did it disappear right after it showed “offline”, or after you tried to fix something?

That small detail matters; it tells me whether this is:

  • a simple connection drop
  • or the system loses track of the printer completely

Share those details with me, and I’ll guide you cleanly to bring it back, no trial and error, just the right steps.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
