macOS 10.15 Catalina

I got TMobile internet, and cannot connect my printer to the new network.  I tried to find the software so I could connect my Mac to my printer via USB, but it's only showing drivers for download.  I do NOT want a new printer.  I love this one.  Please help with how I can manually connect my printer to the network.  It's got a menu, but nowhere on there does it let me choose an SSID on my own.

Does anyone have the Mac app that connects to the printer to so I can setup the wifi through that?

Hi @melcarr,

Welcome to the HP Support Community

I understand you are facing a connectivity issue with your HP printer. Not to worry I will help you to get a resolution to resolve the issue.

To assist better:

  • May I have the exact model name of the product? Refer to this document for steps to find the product details. Do not share any of your personal information such as serial, phone number, email ID
  • Is the blue Wi-Fi light blinking on the printer?
  • How far is the printer located from the WiFi router?
  • Do you have a dual-band router?
  • If you have a Dual-band router and both 2.4GHz and 5GHz networks share the same name/SSID, the printer will not be able to connect to the network. In this case, contact your Internet service provider to assign different names to both networks.

While you respond to that,  please follow the below steps to resolve the issue.

Restore Wi-Fi setup mode on the printer

  • Prepare a printer for a Wi-Fi connection by restoring the Wi-Fi setup mode.
  • When the settings are restored, the printer enters Wi-Fi setup mode for about two hours, making it discoverable during the HP software installation.
  • Most printers with a touchscreen: From the Wireless or Setup menu, select Network setup or Settings, and then select Restore Network Settings.
  • Most inkjet printers without a touchscreen: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Power button flashes, and then wait for the Wireless light to flash.
  • Once you restore the network to defaults, then please follow the instructions on this link to connect the printer back to your PC.

Once you connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network the blue light will become solid, please try printing using Airprint.

Add the printer using Apple AirPrint drivers.

1.) Click the Apple menu, click System Preferences, and then click Print & Scan or Printers & Scanners.

2.) Check if your printer name displays in the Printers list, If your printer is listed, click the printer name, click the minus sign to delete the printer.

3.) If you see multiple printer queues for the same printer, remove all extra printers by selecting them one at a time, and then clicking the minus button at the bottom of the list.

4.) Click the plus sign click Add Printer or Scanner, click the printer name.

5.) Click the Use or Print Using menu, select AirPrint in the pop-up menu. Then click Add.

Select AirPrint from the Use menu

6.) Try to print.

Make sure you update the printer firmware and Update software on Mac

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
