Hi @None_for_none,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP LaserJet MFP M234sdwe printer's firmware. If you're facing difficulties with passwords containing symbols, it's essential to ensure that the firmware is up to date. Since you mentioned that the firmware version 20231016 did not resolve the problem, there are a few steps you can take:
Check for Updates:
- Visit the official HP support website to see if there are any newer firmware updates available for your printer model.
- Download and install the latest firmware update following the provided instructions.
User Manual and Documentation:
- Refer to the user manual or documentation that came with your printer. There may be specific instructions or information related to password limitations that could be causing the issue.
Password Format:
- Double-check if the password you are using conforms to any specific format requirements mentioned in the printer's documentation. Sometimes, printers have limitations on the characters or length of passwords.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.-

The problem is that even a specialist from HP support connected remotely to my network and was unable to connect this printer via WiFi. This took more than 3 hours.
And everything that you wrote above in general phrases does not work at all. The problem is in the crooked software or firmware of the printer itself.
The second problem is the lack of software for macOS Catalina (only old version 3.6 was working), the Android application only supports api28 (Android9 only), and what should the user do? go buy a new phone, just because. that HP decided to stop supporting the not-so-old version of Android :)))
this actually made me laugh....
Password Format:
Double-check if the password you are using conforms to any specific format requirements mentioned in the printer's documentation. Sometimes, printers have limitations on the characters or length of passwords.
The year is 2024, and technical support says that the printer has a password length limit - this is generally nonsense... Why add gelded wifi to the printer if it has no characters and a password length limit?! There are standards, but HP offers me to rebuild my wifi network so that I can connect a printer, this is generally idiocy in my opinion.
