HP Driver Pre-configuration

My MFP M234DW Wi-Fi WILL NOT COME OUT OF SLEEP MODE, I have reset the WI-FI adaptor on the printer, and also I have downloaded the newest drivers from the HP website, I even reset my router network, but the results are the same., no printer can be found.  I can surf the net with my WI-FI and I can connect to my Smart TV by WI-FI also without a problem, so the not coming out of sleep mode seems to be the problem. One more important thing that I almost forgot is that is when I press the WI-FI button on the printer no lights even come on, When I press the Wi-FI button it lights up with a red X on it if that helps.

Hi @GlennMc777

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP MFP M234DW printer is having trouble with its Wi-Fi connection and waking from sleep mode. Here are some steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Power Cycle the Printer

  • Turn off the printer, unplug it from the power source, and wait about 60 seconds before plugging it back in and turning it on again.

2. Check for Error Indicators

  • The red X on the Wi-Fi button usually indicates a connection issue. Make sure there are no other error lights on the printer, which could give more insight into the problem.

3. Reset Network Settings

  • Reset the network settings on the printer:
    • Go to the printer's Control Panel or Settings.
    • Look for Network Settings and select the option to reset network settings.
    • This may also include deleting any saved Wi-Fi networks.

4. Reconnect to Wi-Fi

  • After resetting, try reconnecting to your Wi-Fi network:
    • Use the Wi-Fi setup wizard on the printer’s control panel.
    • Ensure you select the correct network and enter the password accurately.

5. Disable Sleep Mode

  • If possible, try disabling the sleep mode temporarily to see if the printer stays responsive:
    • Access the printer settings through the control panel and adjust the sleep settings.

6. Update Firmware

  • Ensure that the printer’s firmware is fully up to date. Check the HP website for the latest version and follow the instructions to update.

7. Check Router Settings

  • Ensure your router is set to the correct wireless mode (preferably mixed or b/g/n) to accommodate older and newer devices.
  • Try moving the router closer to the printer to improve signal strength.

8. Try a Different Network

  • If possible, try connecting the printer to a different Wi-Fi network (like a mobile hotspot) to see if it can connect successfully.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
