Hi,
I have constant problems with connection of the MFP135w to my macbook. I have one ipad, iphone, two android phones conected with hp smart app to the printer via my home wirelles network and apart the fact that ipad and iphone need a bit more time to detect the printer, all devices are connecting without problems. With my two macbooks is always problems, sometimes it connects, sometimes no. When I try to add new printer, after giving me the opportunity to choose the printer it says :
._ipp._tcp.local. error configuring printer...
I tried to ping and here is the result:

It seems the macbook does not recocnize the printer on the network. But sometimes it does without problems.
I tried every way to reset network, router, printer, nothing... I have set the static IP adress to printer.
I belive it has to do something with the router, it is an Alcatel 4gLINKHUB.
Please help?

Hi @marios5
Welcome to the HP Support Community. I'd be happy to assist you with the connectivity issue.
Let's try the below steps to see if that helps -
1.) Remove All Barriers: Certain building materials can get in the way of weaker signals like Bluetooth. Metal, bulletproof glass, concrete, and plaster are particularly bad, and marble, plaster and brick aren’t great easy. So if you’re really struggling with interference, your first step should be to move your Bluetooth devices away from these materials. That means no brick walls between you and your devices, and definitely no metal desks!
2.) Change Router Channel: If you have an Apple router and you’re constantly getting interference with your WiFi, try rebooting it. Upon restart, the station will search for a new channel. Specifically, a different channel than the one your Bluetooth devices is using to communicate. If you don’t have an Apple router, you may need to instead go into your router settings and try changing the channel manually. Experiment with different channels to see which one works best.
3.) Move Closer to Your Router: If you often find that you’re getting interference when talking on a wireless headset while on a WiFi call (you’ll know because you’ll hear static), try moving closer to your router. This will give you a more robust WiFi connection, so the Bluetooth frequency can’t overpower it.
4.) Get Away From Microwaves and Fluorescent Lighting: Both emit frequencies of 2.4GHz, and moving away from them will distance you from the source.
I'd like to know the following to isolate the issue further-
1.) Are the printer and Mac connected to the same network?
2.) Is your router dual-band enabled i.e., both 2.4GHz and 5GHz? If yes, make sure the dual band has different SSIDs for 2.4G and 5G networks.
3.) What is the distance between the router and the printer?
4.) Is there an antivirus software installed on your Mac?
5.) Could you perform a ping test using the Mac Network Utility and let me know the results? Use the printer IP address to perform a ping test, the printer IP can be located by selecting the wireless icon on the printer display.
The wireless status menu on your Mac should also give us quite a lot of information that would help us identify the issue. You can press and hold option-click the WiFi icon and then use shift-command-5 to take the screenshot. Press the space bar when the icon turns into a camera. Share the ping test results and the screenshot with us.
Also, check with your Internet service provider if your router is able to forward 'Bonjour packets'. Bonjour locates devices such as printers, other computers, and the services that those devices offer on a local network using multicast Domain Name System (mDNS) service records. The software comes built-in with Apple's macOS and iOS operating systems.
Make sure the devices are up to date -
To update Mac, try these steps - How to update the software on your Mac
To update the iOS device, refer to this document - Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

Hi Asmita,
Thanks for your effort.
I did all the things you suggested more than once.
What I tried based on other posts on this forum is that I gave a printer a unique IP adress outside the range the router gives alone, I changed the autentification to WPA instead WPA2, I reconected everything more than once and here are the results.
All my devices are up to date, I have one Macbook Pro, Macbook air, Iphone 8, Ipad air 2, Samsung A20, Huawei P30, Huawei P9. Unfortunatelly, I do not have any Windows based computers so I cannot try that.
After two days - all devices have problems connecting to the printer.
In the router I can see that the printer is connected all the time.
The iphone and Ipad connect wia HP Smart but although the sign by the printer is green, the spinning wheel is always spinning and I cannot print from that devices. Maybe two or three times the spinning wheel stops, I see the supply levels and I can print, but this happens not so often, I tried to wait 2 or 3 minutes.
Android phones seem to have more luck, but, when the printer goes to sleep mode (and yes, the blue wifi lights goes off) and you open the HP smart app, sometimes the printer is not detected, even if I try the option to add printer. What seems to have solved the problem is that I go to the embedded web services through chrome browser. This seems to triger the printer and then I can connect through smart app. Funny though, printer seems to be always reachable as a google cloud printer, and it is always on the network (this I always check in the router itself).
Both Macbooks do not detect printer through HP smart app, it states that the printer is offline and it isnt. When I try to reset the printing service on the macs, and reconnect the printer, sometimes it connects, sometimes not.
I also sometimes cannot acces the embeded web service through the Chrome browser on the Mac, and in the same time I can access through android mobile phone browser.
Wifi direct printing works flawlessly on all devices.
So my suggestion would be that printer has some problems with wifi connection and HPsmart app and iOS and MAC - OS especcialy . Do not know which are they. The Air print is enabled in the printer embeded web service, I would flash the new firmware to the device but it is the latest firmware already up, so....Maybe it has something to do with the printers sleep mode?
And in the end maybe I expected too much from the printer of that price range. Wifi direct printing seems to be the only way to have it functioning as it should. To have it as a network device seems to be problematic.

Thanks for replying @marios5
How about Bonjour? Did you check for that?
Could you please print a Network Configuration report and send it to me in a private message? Please follow these steps to print the report -
-
Turn on the printer.
-
On the printer control panel, press the Menu button
.
-
Select Network, and then press OK.
-
Select Network Conf., and then press OK.
-
Select Yes, and then press OK.
