HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw

I have successfully gotten my HP LaserJet Pro MFP M148fdw to forget its old network, but I can't set it up on the new one. The printer works with a wired ethernet connection to the router, but that's not practical, just a test to see if it worked. I've tried the HP Easy Start App, the regular HP app, nothing is working. The printer is invisible to the network, and the lack of a touchscreen makes it nearly impossible to figure out where to go to adjust any settings. Help?

Wireless Network Test Support: Wireless on and working, printer settings consistent with wireless router, no problems found, network name not specified.

Network Summary: Waiting for a wireless connection.

Hi @leisamc,

Thanks for following steps 😇

1. Did you check that your printer is doing connection to a 2.4 Ghz network on your Wifi service ?

2. You may need to restart your Wifi router network and then try again to add your printer.

  1. .  Disconnect ethernet cable on the printer.
  2. . Restart your Wifi router.
  3. . Then restart your Laserjet printer.
  4. .  Try again to add printer in the app.

3. Another option is to try to install printer doing connection directly to your phone using Wi-Fi Direct connection.

Hi @leisamc

Please follow steps from the next video to setup your printer:

  • Note: make sure you have a 2.4G network available to connect your printer, because HP printers are more compatible to work on that network speed.

Unfortunately, that didn't work. I just can't get the app to find the printer. Not even by IP address.

I believe the 2.4 Ghz network is the answer, but repeated attempts with router restarts have not worked. However, a new and improved router is on order, and maybe that one will be a little more helpful!

I don't think Wi-Fi Direct is going to be practical for me, just like a wired ethernet connection between router and printer is not practical for me.

I do believe the problem has been diagnosed, though, so I'm going to mark this as solved. Thank you for your help!
