HP DeskJet 2820e All-in-One Printer

I  purchased this printer to work on our guest WiFi network so that visitors and staff can print from their phones/tablets/laptops as our main printer is on the secure network and therefore not accessible.  I have downloaded the HP smart app to my iphone XR and i get all the way to the end of the set up process to "Finish connections"  and it simply says "Unable to reach printer over WiFi".  I have tried all the troubleshooting options, I have

1.  re-set WiFi beaconing on the printer

2.  I have reset the printer to factory settings

3.  I have deleted and reloaded the HP Smart App on my phone

4.  I have rebooted the router.

All to no avail.  We are able to use WiFi Direct for printing  from it but the whole idea was that it was on the WiFi network.  Any suggestions?

Guest or public networks (such as networks found in apartments, coffee shops, schools, or hotels) have additional security features that can prevent printing.

To print, directly connect your computer or mobile device to your printer with Wi-Fi Direct.
