Common problems for Connectivity Issues

My HP ENVY 7858 will copy. However it won't print, whether wireless or connected. What do I do?

I understand your HP ENVY Photo 7858 All-in-One Printer is able to copy but won't print, whether wirelessly or connected, follow these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
 

Restart Printer and Devices:

  • Turn off your printer, computer, and router.
  • Wait for 60 seconds.
  • Turn on your router first, then your printer, and finally your computer.

Check Printer Status:

  • Ensure that the printer is set as the default printer.
  • Check the printer status in the Devices and Printers section of your computer's Control Panel. Ensure it is not offline or paused.

Update or Reinstall Printer Driver:

  • Go to the HP Support website and download the latest drivers for your printer model.
  • Uninstall the existing printer driver from your computer.
  • Reinstall the printer driver using the downloaded file.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor: HP Print and Scan Doctor

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor tool from the HP website. This tool can diagnose and fix many printing and scanning issues automatically.

Check Wireless Connection:

  • Ensure your printer is connected to the same WiFi network as your computer.
  • Print a Wireless Network Test Report from the printer's control panel to check the connection status and signal strength.

Check Print Queue:

  • Open the print queue on your computer by going to Devices and Printers, right-clicking your printer, and selecting "See what's printing".
  • Cancel all pending print jobs.
  • Try printing a new document.

Check for Firmware Updates:Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Ensure your printer firmware is up to date. Go to the HP Support website to check for and install any available firmware updates.

Reset the Printing System (Mac only):

  • If you're using a Mac, go to System Preferences > Printers & Scanners.
  • Right-click (or Control-click) on the printer list and select "Reset printing system".
  • Re-add your printer and try printing again.

Print a Test Page:

  • Print a test page directly from the printer’s control panel to ensure the printer hardware is working correctly.

Check for Error Messages:

  • Check the printer's display panel for any error messages and follow any instructions provided.
