Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

My HP Envy 7800 keeps dropping off the network and going offline.  This happens on a daily basis.  I've tried wireless, direct wireless, and Ethernet and no matter what, it picks up an apipa address.  It's like it stops looking at the home network for some reason, goes to sleep or whatever.  Restarting the printer sometimes works but not always.  The only thing that works is I have to literally delete all jobs hanging in the queue, then delete the printer and recreate it - but that's only a temporary fix. No other device on my network is so unstable like this printer.  It's probably a firmware issue that needs to be addressed.  Otherwise this will definitely be the last HP printer I'll purchase.   HP used to be such a reputable brand - now ... just a waste of money!

Hi @spettro,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I see that you are facing an issue with your printer.

A) Please follow the steps below to perform a power drain.

1) Take out the cartridges

2) Unplug the power cord from the printer & wall.

3) Press and hold the power button down for 15 seconds and release the power button, wait for about 30 seconds.

4) Plug the power cord back into the printer and wall, ensure the printer is plugged into the wall & not into a surge protector.

5) Insert the cartridges back into the printer.

Remove the cartridges > Unplug the power cord > Wait for 30 seconds > Plug the power cord back in > Insert the cartridges

B) Kindly refer to the steps on this link to update the printer firmware and let me know if that resolves the issue.

C) If the issue still persists, uninstall the printer software by following the steps from this link and restart the devices.

D)  Install the printer software by clicking on the link again and let me know if that resolves the issue.

Please click “Accepted Solution” if you feel my post solved your issue, it will help others find the solution. Click the “Kudos/Thumbs Up" on the bottom right to say “Thanks” for helping!
