My HP Envy photo 6255 printer finds my wifi network but won't ask for the password. It just worked and was all set up at my parents house two months ago. It is not WPS either. Please help or let me know if I need a new printer.
Thanks in advance

Hi @SE1020,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like there might be an issue with the printer's connection settings or its ability to prompt for the Wi-Fi password. Here are some steps you can try to troubleshoot the issue.
- Restart the Printer: Turn off the printer, wait for about 10 seconds, and then turn it back on. This simple step can sometimes resolve connection issues.
- Check Wi-Fi Signal: Ensure that the printer is within the range of your Wi-Fi network and that there are no obstructions interfering with the signal.
- Reset Network Settings: Most printers have an option to reset network settings. Refer to your printer's user manual for instructions on how to do this. After resetting, you'll need to set up the Wi-Fi connection again.
- Update Firmware: Check if there's a firmware update available for your printer. Sometimes, updates include improvements and bug fixes that can address connectivity issues. Refer to your printer's manual or the HP website for instructions on updating the firmware.
- Forget Wi-Fi Network on Printer: If your printer has previously connected to a different Wi-Fi network, it might be causing a conflict. Access the printer's settings to forget any previously saved Wi-Fi networks and then try setting up the connection again.
- Connect via USB: As a temporary workaround, you can connect the printer to your computer using a USB cable and configure the Wi-Fi settings through your computer. Once configured, you can remove the USB connection.
- Check for Printer Updates: Ensure that your printer drivers and software are up to date on your computer. Sometimes, issues can arise due to outdated drivers.
Remember to consult your printer's manual for model-specific instructions as steps may vary between different HP Envy Photo 6255 printers.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
