Hi @gabby84,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 5255 printer is offline due to a change in your Wi-Fi network or password, you will need to reconnect it to your new Wi-Fi network. Here's a general guide to help you reconnect your printer to your new Wi-Fi network:

Step 1: Prepare for the Connection

  • Ensure your printer is turned on and in a ready state.
  • Have your Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password available. Remember that Wi-Fi passwords are case sensitive.

Step 2: Connect Printer to Wi-Fi

There are a couple of methods to connect your HP OfficeJet 5255 to a Wi-Fi network:

Using the Printer's Control Panel

Access the Wireless Setup Wizard: On the printer’s control panel, go to the wireless icon or into the 'Setup' menu, then select 'Network Setup', and choose 'Wireless Settings'. Select 'Wireless Setup Wizard' or a similar option. The printer will search for available networks.

Select Your Network: Scroll through the list of available networks until you find yours. If prompted, enter the Wi-Fi password. This might involve navigating a keyboard on the printer’s touchscreen or control panel.

Confirm Connection: After entering your Wi-Fi password, your printer should connect to your network. You might see a confirmation on the printer’s display.

Using WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)

If your router and printer both support WPS push-button mode, you can connect them using this method:

Start WPS on Printer: On your printer, look for a WPS button or an option in the wireless settings menu to start WPS push-button mode.

Activate WPS on Router: Within two minutes of activating WPS on your printer, press the WPS button on your router.

Wait for Connection: The devices will connect automatically. This might take a few minutes.

Step 3: Verify Connection

  • Once connected, you might want to print a test page or use the printer’s display to check the status of the Wi-Fi connection.
  • Ensure your computer or device is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as the printer.

Step 4: Reinstall Printer on Your Computer (If Necessary)

  • If your printer was previously installed on your computer using the old Wi-Fi network, you might need to reinstall it or update its network settings to reflect the new Wi-Fi network.
  • You can usually do this through the printer settings on your computer or by using the software provided by HP.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
