Hi @Lisamariecoop,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
f your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028 cannot find your Wi-Fi network, try these steps to troubleshoot the issue:
1. Check Wi-Fi Connection
- Ensure your Wi-Fi network is working by checking if other devices (like your phone or computer) can connect to it.
2. Restart Your Devices
- Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for about 30 seconds, then plug it back in and turn it on.
- Router: Restart your Wi-Fi router by unplugging it for about 10 seconds, then plug it back in.
3. Verify Network Compatibility
- Ensure that your printer is compatible with your Wi-Fi network's frequency. Most printers work with 2.4 GHz networks, while some routers have a separate 5 GHz band. Check if your router has both options enabled.
4. Reset Network Settings on the Printer
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup (gear icon).
- Select Network.
- Choose Restore Network Settings or Reset Network Settings.
- Follow the prompts to confirm the reset.
5. Reconnect to Wi-Fi
- On the printer control panel, go to Setup > Network > Wireless Setup Wizard.
- Select your Wi-Fi network from the list and enter the password.
6. Check Firewall or Security Settings
- If you have security settings on your router (like MAC address filtering), ensure the printer's MAC address is allowed.
7. Update Printer Firmware
- If you can connect the printer to a computer, check for firmware updates via the HP Smart app or the HP website.
8. Use WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup)
- If your router supports WPS, press the WPS button on the router, then on the printer, go to Network > WPS Setup and follow the instructions.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
