Hi @Zp91,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP Smart Tank 580 printer is printing via USB but not connecting to WiFi, the issue could be related to network configuration or printer settings. Here’s how to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Step 1: Check Network Requirements

  1. Ensure your WiFi network is 2.4 GHz (most HP printers do not support 5 GHz WiFi-only networks).
  2. Make sure the printer is within range of the WiFi router.

Step 2: Restart Devices

  1. Restart your printer, router, and computer.
  2. Turn off the printer, unplug it, wait for 30 seconds, and then turn it back on.

Step 3: Connect Printer to WiFi

Reset the Printer's Network Settings:

  • Press and hold the WiFi button and the Cancel button on the printer until the power button starts flashing.
  • This resets the printer's network settings.

Reconnect to WiFi:

  • Open the HP Smart App on your computer or mobile device.
  • Add the printer by clicking on the + sign.
  • Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your WiFi network.

Step 4: Manually Connect Using WPS

If your router supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup):

  1. Press and hold the WiFi button on your printer until it starts blinking.
  2. Press the WPS button on your router within 2 minutes.
  3. Wait until the WiFi light on the printer stops blinking and remains steady.

Step 5: Update Printer Firmware

  1. Connect your printer to the computer using the USB cable.
  2. Visit the HP Support website and download the latest firmware for your printer.
  3. Install the firmware update.

Step 6: Verify Connection

  1. Print a Wireless Network Test Report:
    • Press and hold the Information button on the printer until all the control panel buttons light up.
    • Press the Network button to print the report.
  2. Check the report for any issues with the WiFi connection.

Step 7: Disable VPN or Firewall Temporarily

If you're using a VPN or firewall, disable it temporarily and retry the setup.

Step 8: Reinstall HP Smart App

  1. Uninstall the HP Smart App and any related drivers.
  2. Reinstall the app from the HP Smart website.
  3. Retry connecting the printer to WiFi.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
