HP Photosmart 6520 e-All-in-One Printer

My Hp Printer is unable to connect to wireless router, the solution is stating that 'If MAC address is enabled and you would like to keep it enabled, you must add the MAC address of your printer (available on this test report) to the list of permitted devices for your wireless router before continuing. I can not find any help to get this resolved.

Hi @Heidy_50,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand your HP Photosmart 6520 printer is unable to connect to your wireless router and you need to add its MAC address to the list of permitted devices on your router, here are the general steps to do so:

  • Find the MAC Address of your printer: Typically, you can find the MAC address of your printer by printing a network configuration page or a wireless network test report. Refer to your printer's user manual or online documentation for specific instructions on how to do this.
  • Access your Router's Settings: Open a web browser on a device connected to your wireless network and enter your router's IP address in the address bar. Common router IP addresses are 192.168.0.1 or 192.168.1.1. You may need to enter your router's username and password to log in. If you haven't changed these, you can find the default credentials in your router's manual
  • Locate MAC Address Filtering: Once logged in to your router's settings, look for the section related to MAC address filtering, sometimes called MAC address access control, device access control, or something similar. This feature is often found in the security or wireless settings of your router.
  • Add the Printer's MAC Address: In the MAC address filtering section, you should see a list of permitted or blocked devices. Locate the option to add a new device or add a MAC address. Enter the MAC address of your HP Photosmart 6520 printer into the appropriate field and save the changes.
  • Restart your Router and Printer: After adding the MAC address to the permitted devices list, restart both your wireless router and your HP printer. This ensures that the changes take effect.
  • Attempt to Reconnect the Printer: Once your router and printer have restarted, attempt to reconnect your HP Photosmart 6520 printer to your wireless network. Follow the printer's setup instructions, which may involve selecting your network from a list of available networks and entering your network password.
