Product: HP OfficeJet 3830 All-in-One Printer
Operating System: iOS

I don't want to use my iPad on 2.4 GHz but I can think of no other way to get HP Smart on my iPad to see my printer. I've tried adding the printer by ip address but no go. 

Any other options besides using a cable?

As long as they are on a SAME network you can print. Please use the following setup to cannedt printer to your network

Or use the following HP Smart app

 

         https://apps.apple.com/us/app/hp-smart/id469284907
