Hi @JcR49,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your HP Laser printer is occasionally resetting or powering on for a few seconds, it could be due to a few reasons. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can follow to identify and potentially resolve the issue.
Check Power Source:
- Loose connection: Ensure that the power cable is securely connected both to the printer and the wall socket.
- Faulty power outlet: Try plugging the printer into a different outlet to see if the issue persists.
- Surge protector: If the printer is connected to a surge protector or power strip, try plugging it directly into a wall outlet as these devices can sometimes cause power fluctuations.
Firmware Update:
- Ensure that your printer has the latest firmware installed. Outdated firmware can cause erratic behavior such as resets or power cycling.
- You can check for firmware updates via the HP Smart App or the HP Support website.
Power Settings:
- Verify the printer's power settings to ensure it's not configured to enter sleep or power-saving modes too aggressively.
- On some models, you can access these settings via the printer’s control panel under System Settings or Power Management.
USB or Network Connection:
- If connected via USB or network cable, make sure the cable is in good condition and properly connected.
- Sometimes network issues or signal disruptions can cause printers to cycle power as they try to reconnect.
Faulty Internal Components:
- If the issue continues despite checking the power connections, it might indicate an issue with the power supply unit (PSU) or internal board of the printer.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
