Hi @RichardMonette

Welcome to the HP Support Community! We're here to help you get back up and running.

Thanks for explaining the situation—it’s understandably frustrating when a previously reliable wireless connection suddenly drops.

Let’s walk through a few steps to help your HP LaserJet MFP M140w reconnect to your Telus Wi-Fi network.

1. Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode

If the blue light has stopped blinking, the printer may have exited setup mode:

  • Press and hold the Wireless button on the printer until the blue light starts blinking again.
  • This reactivates Wi-Fi setup mode so the printer can be discovered by your Mac or the HP Smart app.

2. Reconnect Using HP Smart App

  • Make sure your Mac is connected to the same Telus Wi-Fi network you want the printer to use.
  • Open the HP Smart app on your Mac.
  • Click Add Printer and follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi.
  • Enter your Wi-Fi password when prompted.

If the printer doesn’t appear, try restarting both your Mac and the printer before repeating the steps.

3. Reset Network Settings (if needed)

If the printer still won’t connect:

  • Press and hold both the Wireless and Cancel buttons on the printer for about 5 seconds.
  • This resets the network settings and re-enables setup mode.
  • Then repeat the connection process using the HP Smart app.

4. Update Printer Firmware

Outdated firmware can cause connectivity issues:

  • Visit the HP M140w support page.
  • Download and install the latest Firmware Update Utility for macOS.
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the update.

Let me know how far you get with these steps. If the printer still won’t connect, we can explore alternate setup methods or check for router compatibility settings.

You're doing the right thing by tackling this proactively.

The solution was partly helpful to reset the printer. The issue was fixed afer spending over an hour with technical assistance from my internet provider Telus. The technician got me to reconnect via the WPS of my internet relay.
