My color cartridge ran out and after I put the new one in it didn't recognize either one of them. Once I did get it to and it just printed black squares. I do not have any error messages. I have Microsoft Windows 365 copilot

Hi @richarsd4
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It sounds like your HP DeskJet 3632 is having trouble recognizing the new cartridges, and it's printing black squares instead of your normal documents. Let's go through a few steps to troubleshoot and hopefully fix the issue:
1. Check Cartridge Installation
- Remove and Reinsert the Cartridges: Sometimes, the cartridges may not be properly seated. Turn off the printer, remove both the color and black cartridges, and then carefully reinsert them, making sure they click into place securely.
- Check for Protective Tape: Make sure any protective tape or plastic film that was covering the new cartridge has been removed.
- Inspect the Contacts: Look at the copper-colored contacts on the cartridge and inside the printer. Make sure they are clean and not obstructed by ink or dirt. You can use a clean, dry cloth to gently wipe these contacts.
2. Reset the Printer
- Power Cycle the Printer: Turn off the printer, unplug the power cord from the back, and wait for about 30 seconds. Plug it back in, and turn the printer back on. This can sometimes resolve cartridge recognition issues.
3. Check Ink Cartridge Compatibility
- Ensure that the new ink cartridges you installed are the correct ones for your HP DeskJet 3632. If you're using third-party cartridges or refilled cartridges, there’s a possibility that the printer may not recognize them correctly. It’s best to use genuine HP cartridges.
4. Perform a Printer Head Cleaning
- Sometimes clogged printheads can cause printing issues like black squares. You can clean the printhead using the printer's built-in cleaning utility:
- Open the printer software on your computer (you can find this through the Control Panel or by searching for "HP" in your Start menu).
- Select Printer Maintenance or Tools.
- Look for an option to clean the printhead or align the cartridges.
I hope this helps.
