Common problems for Connectivity Issues

I am trying to scan a document on my HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One-Printer N911g.  I selected scan to computer, as usual, and am now getting an error message, which is not usual.  The computer doesn't recognize the printer on the network yet, it is listed in the available printers when I go to print something.  The strange thing is that I can print from my computer to the printer without issue, both on paper and to PDF.  I have tried the wireless network setup wizard, which usually works, but not this time!  The internet connection indicator light on the printer is lit and solid blue but the printer is saying it's not recognized on the network.  I have the original printer software, but it won't fully load because it can't find the printer on the network (even though it's connected!). I have the new HP Smart software and that's showing the printer offline.  I tried cycling both

my router and the printer but they still don't recognize each other on the network.  I'm at a loss and would appreciate any input anyone could provide.  Thank you!

@jgordon3233, Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding Network Recognition and Scanning Issues with HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus printer is on the network but not recognized by your PC for scanning, follow these steps to resolve the issue:

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure both your printer and PC are connected to the same network.
  • Restart your router to refresh the network settings.

Restart Devices:

  • Turn off your printer and PC, then turn them back on. This can help re-establish connections.

Verify Printer Settings:

  • On the printer's control panel, check network settings to confirm it is connected to the correct network.

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure you have the latest printer drivers installed on your PC. You can download them from the HP Support website.

Check Firewall Settings:

  • Your PC's firewall settings might be blocking the connection. Temporarily disable the firewall to see if this resolves the issue.

Reinstall HP Software:

  • Uninstall and then reinstall the HP printer software. This ensures that all components, including scanning software, are properly installed.

Hope this helps!

Take care, and have an amazing day!
