Every day I go to print anything , my printer shows as being offline (or asleep). I disconnect the printer and the router and then, after about 60 seconds restart both. The printer then prints. But the next day, the same thing happens. Any ideas of what is going on?

Hi @Jeff19751,
Welcome to the HP Support Community.
I understand that you are facing connectivity issues. I’d like to help!
To provide you with an accurate solution, I'll need a few more details:
Have you made any changes to your printer software or router?
Perform the following tasks in the order given. Use the printer after each task to see if the issue is resolved.
Restart devices
- Restart your computer or mobile device and the printer to clear any error states. If you are using a network printer, restart the router.
- If your printer connects to a Wi-Fi network, disconnect your computer or mobile device from the network name (SSID), and then reconnect it to the same network name your printer is connected to.
- If the printer is available and has a ready status, the issue is resolved. You do not need to continue troubleshooting.
- Press the power button to turn off the printer. If the printer does not turn off, disconnect the power cord from the printer and from the power source.
- Turn off the computer or mobile device that you are attempting to print from.
- If the printer was set up on a network wirelessly or with an Ethernet cable, restart the router.
- If necessary, reconnect the power cord to the printer and to a wall outlet, and then turn on the printer.
- NOTE:
- HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet.
- Turn on the computer or mobile device.
- If the printer connects to a network, check the connection to make sure the same network is used by the printer and the device.
- Computer or mobile device: Open the list of available networks and make sure it is connected to the correct network.
- Printer: Check the Wireless light
on the control panel. If it is solid blue, the printer is connected.

Hi @Elohi_NR
Thank you for your reply to my query. A couple of weeks before I started getting this issue, TalkTalk sent an engineer to look at by broadband as I was having problems with it. He mentioned that he needed to change the signal band??? and this meant that two of the issues I was having were resolved. However, it caused my laptop to identify my printer as being offline. I followed your instructions and disconnected my laptop from the router and then reset it to the network. This has now thankfully resolved my printer issues. Thank you very much for your assistance

Hello Elohi,
Another week on and the same error has occured again. The printer is showing as offline and the control panel does not respond. The only light showing is the blue Wi-Fi signal, which seems to suggest that the printer is connected to my Wi-Fi. Bizzarely, I can print documents from my I-pad and this then seems to open up the documents I sent from my computer, which then also print out. Any ideas on how I can solve this problem as I print most of my documents from work on my computer
Regards
Jeff
