HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 All-in-One Printer

My printer was working fine last night and this morning it is refusing to print.  I have rebooted, I have taken the wireless network out and reset it up. It is connected to wireless network at this moment. It keeps telling me it needs to connect with HP Ink Status and i am getting really fustrated.

Hi @Kathyg717,

Welcome to The HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I understand you are facing an issue with your HP OfficeJet Pro 8710 is having trouble connecting to the HP Ink Status service, which can prevent printing. Here are some troubleshooting steps you can try to resolve the issue:

1. Check HP Instant Ink Subscription (if applicable)

  • If you are using HP Instant Ink, make sure your account is active and there are no issues with your subscription. You can check this online at HP Instant Ink.
  • If you're not enrolled in Instant Ink, you may still see this message, but it shouldn't prevent normal printing.

2. Restart Printer and Network Devices

  • Turn off your printer and unplug it from the power source for about 60 seconds.
  • While the printer is off, restart your router and modem.
  • After 60 seconds, plug the printer back in and turn it on. Wait for it to reconnect to the Wi-Fi network.

3. Check HP Smart App Connection

  • Open the HP Smart app on your computer or mobile device and ensure it can detect the printer.
  • If it's not connected, try reconnecting the app to your printer.

4. Check Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer

  • Sometimes, an outdated firmware version can cause connectivity issues. If you can access the printer's settings through the HP Smart app or its web interface, check for any firmware updates.

5. Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Go to Settings > Devices > Printers & Scanners on your computer.
  • Select your printer and click Remove Device.
  • Uninstall the printer software and reinstall the latest drivers from HP's official website.

6. Reset the Printer's Network Settings

  • On the printer, navigate to Settings > Network > Restore Network Settings. This will remove the printer from your network and reset its wireless settings.
  • After this, reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network again.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
