HI @ZiggyNyc,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query. I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like your HP printer is broadcasting its own Wi-Fi network—this is typically part of Wi-Fi Direct or HP Wireless Setup Mode. When you connect to the printer's network, your device disconnects from your main Wi-Fi, which is why you lose internet access.

Here’s how to fix this and get your printer back on your main Wi-Fi network:

Option 1: Disable Wi-Fi Direct (if not needed)

  1. On the printer's control panel, go to Settings or Network Setup.
  2. Look for Wi-Fi Direct.
  3. Set it to Off or Disabled.

This stops the printer from broadcasting its own network.

Option 2: Reconnect Printer to Your Wi-Fi Network

  1. On the printer, go to Wireless Settings.
  2. Choose Wireless Setup Wizard.
  3. Select your home Wi-Fi network and enter the password.
  4. Once connected, your printer will be on the same network as your devices.

Option 3: Use HP Smart App

  1. Download the HP Smart app on your phone or PC.
  2. Connect to the printer’s temporary network (the one it’s broadcasting).
  3. Open the app and go to Printer Settings > Network Setup.
  4. Choose your home Wi-Fi and enter the password.
  5. The printer will switch to your main network.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
