Hi @Sgl52,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
If your printer is printing more copies than requested, here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:
Troubleshooting Steps
Check Print Settings:
- Before printing, go to the print dialog box. Make sure the number of copies is set correctly (usually found under “Copies” or “Quantity”).
- Ensure that the “Collate” option is set correctly if you're printing multiple copies.
Default Printer Settings:
- Sometimes, the printer's default settings can override your requests.
- Go to Control Panel > Devices and Printers > right-click your printer and select Printer properties. Check the default settings for the number of copies.
Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers:
- Outdated or corrupted drivers can cause printing issues. Visit the HP Support page to download and install the latest drivers for your printer model.
Check for Software Issues:
- If you’re printing from a specific application (like Word or PDF reader), check the print settings in that application as well. Sometimes, software can have its own print settings that override the system settings.
Restart Printer and Computer:
- Restart both your printer and computer. This can clear temporary issues that may cause printing errors.
Print a Test Page:
- Print a test page from the printer’s settings menu. This can help you see if the issue occurs with test prints as well, which may indicate a problem with the printer itself.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
