Hi @2chestnuts,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your HP OfficeJet 4655 is ejecting blank pages instead of printing correctly, it can be frustrating. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the issue:

1. Check the Ink Cartridges

Verify Cartridge Installation:

  • Ensure that the ink cartridges are correctly installed. They should click into place securely.

Check Ink Levels:

  • Print a test page or use the HP Smart app to check the ink levels. Low or empty cartridges might be causing the problem.

Remove and Reinstall Cartridges:

  • Remove the ink cartridges and gently clean the electrical contacts on both the cartridges and in the printer with a lint-free cloth. Reinstall the cartridges firmly.

Check for Protective Tape:

  • Ensure that any protective tape or plastic on the cartridges or printhead has been removed.

2. Perform a Printer Self-Test

  1. Print a Test Page:
    • Go to the printer’s control panel, select Setup, then Tools, and choose Print Quality Report or Print Test Page. This can help determine if the issue is with the printer itself or the data being sent to it.

3. Clean the Printhead

Access the Printhead:

  • Open the printer’s access door to reach the printhead.

Clean the Printhead:

  • Use the printer’s built-in cleaning function, which can be found in the printer’s menu under Maintenance or Tools. This function helps clean the printhead nozzles.

Manual Cleaning (if needed):

  • If the built-in cleaning doesn’t resolve the issue, you can manually clean the printhead. Dampen a lint-free cloth with warm water and gently wipe the printhead. Avoid using any harsh chemicals.

4. Check Printer Settings and Drivers

Update Drivers:

  • Ensure that you have the latest printer drivers installed. Go to the HP Support website to download and install the most recent drivers for your OfficeJet 4655.

Verify Print Settings:

  • Check the print settings on your computer to ensure that the correct printer is selected and that no unusual settings are causing the issue.

5. Perform a Hard Reset

Power Off and Unplug:

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source.

Wait and Restart:

  • Wait for about 60 seconds, then plug the printer back in and turn it on. This can sometimes resolve temporary issues.

6. Check for Paper Jam or Feed Issues

Inspect for Jams:

  • Check for any paper jams or obstructions inside the printer that might affect printing.

Paper Alignment:

  • Ensure that the paper is properly loaded and aligned in the paper tray. Misalignment can sometimes cause printing issues.

7. Use HP Print and Scan Doctor

  1. Download and Run:
    • Download the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP Support website. This tool can diagnose and fix many common printing problems.

8. Replace Ink Cartridges

  1. Try New Cartridges:
    • If all else fails, try replacing the ink cartridges with new, genuine HP cartridges. Sometimes, defective or dried-out cartridges can cause blank prints.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
