Since I got wired in WIFI and don't need to use the phones personal hotspot anymore, loading anything i want to print from online has slowed down considerably.  I'm wondering if there is a setting on the printer that needs to be changed?

Hi @Poofy45

Welcome to the HP support community.

I understand you're experiencing an issue with your HP printer, and I apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. I'm here to help you today. There are a few things to check that could help improve the speed of your print jobs over your new Wi-Fi network.

1. Ensure Stable and Fast Wi-Fi Connection

If you recently switched to a wired Wi-Fi connection, check the following:

  • Wi-Fi Band (2.4 GHz vs. 5 GHz): Printers generally perform better when connected to the 5 GHz band on your router, as it’s faster and less congested than the 2.4 GHz band. However, if your printer is on the 2.4 GHz band, it may be slower, especially with more data-intensive tasks like online printing.
    • Check the router settings and ensure the printer is connected to the 5 GHz network if possible.
    • If the printer is still on 2.4 GHz, this could explain the slowdowns, as 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi can be slower due to network congestion and distance from the router.

2. Check Printer’s Network Settings

Check the printer's connection:

  • On your printer’s control panel, go to Settings > Network and ensure the printer is connected to the correct Wi-Fi network.
  • Print a Network Configuration Page to verify its connection status and IP address.

Check for IP Conflicts:

  • Sometimes, having multiple devices connected to the same network can cause IP address conflicts, which can slow down printing. Try assigning a static IP address to your printer to avoid any potential conflicts:
    • Go to the printer’s network settings and assign a static IP address (consult your router’s documentation for details on how to assign a static IP).

3. Reduce Data Load on the Printer

  • Print in lower quality: Set your printer to print in draft or economy mode to speed up the process. While this will lower the print quality, it will reduce the amount of data the printer has to process and speed up printing.
    • In the Print Dialog on your computer, under Printer Preferences, set the quality to Draft or Fast.

4. Clear Printer Queue and Reset Network Settings

  1. Clear the print queue:
    • Go to Devices and Printers in Windows 11.
    • Right-click on the HP OfficeJet Pro 8025 and select See what's printing.
    • Cancel all pending print jobs.
  2. Reset network settings on the printer:
    • On your printer, go to Settings > Network > Restore Network Defaults.
    • Reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.

5. Update Printer Firmware

Make sure your printer is running the latest firmware:click here

  1. Go to HP Smart or the HP Support website and check if there is a firmware update available for your HP OfficeJet Pro 8025.
  2. Updating the firmware can improve network performance and fix bugs that may affect the print speed.

6. Disable Unnecessary Apps or Processes on the Computer

  • Background apps or processes on your computer may be slowing down the print job. Try closing unnecessary programs or tabs in your browser to free up system resources.
  • Use HP Smart or HP Print and Scan Doctor to diagnose any issues with the printing software and check if it’s functioning optimally.

7. Check Router Settings for Bandwidth Control or QoS

  1. Log in to your router’s settings (usually by entering its IP address in a browser).
  2. Check for bandwidth limitations or QoS settings that might be affecting the printer's connection and adjust accordingly.

I hope this helps! Keep me posted.
