HI @JimEP,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

If your printer is turning on by itself and won't turn off, it could be due to a few different reasons. Here's what you can do to troubleshoot the issue:

1. Check Power Settings:

  • Make sure there are no scheduled tasks or power-saving settings enabled on your printer that might be causing it to turn on automatically. Check the printer's settings menu or user manual for options related to power management.

2. Unplug and Reset:

  • Try unplugging the printer from the power source and leave it unplugged for at least 1-2 minutes. Then, plug it back in and see if the issue persists. This can help reset the printer's internal components.

3. Firmware Update:

  • Check if there are any firmware updates available for your printer model. Visit the manufacturer's website or use the printer's software to check for updates and install them if available. Sometimes, firmware updates can address issues with automatic powering on/off.

4. Check for Physical Obstructions:

  • Ensure that there are no physical obstructions around the printer's power button or control panel that might be triggering it to turn on by itself. Check for any stuck buttons or debris that could be causing the issue.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
