My printer will not print. I ran a diagnostic and fix and it says no issue found, but when I try to print from my desktop it says on the printer display its not connected. I have tried everything.

Hi @Heidi1986

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query.

I understand that you are experiencing difficulties printing with your printer. Although you ran a diagnostic test and no issues were detected, the printer still fails to print as expected.

Confirm Network Connection

  • On the printer’s control panel, check the Wireless icon.
  • Solid blue light = connected.
  • Blinking light = not connected.
  • If blinking, run the Wireless Setup Wizard again and reconnect to your Wi‑Fi.

Check Router Settings

  • Ensure the printer is connected to the 2.4 GHz band (HP printers often don’t support 5 GHz).
  • If your router uses WPA3 security, switch to WPA2.
  • Disable “AP isolation” or “guest mode” if enabled, as these block devices from seeing each other.

Verify IP Address

  • Print a Network Configuration Page from the printer.
  • Check that the printer has a valid IP address (e.g., 192.168.x.x).
  • On your PC, open a browser and type that IP — if the printer’s Embedded Web Server opens, the printer is online.

Clear Print Spooler (Windows)

  • Press Windows + R, type services.msc, press Enter.
  • Find Print Spooler, right‑click → Stop.
  • Go to C:\Windows\System32\spool\PRINTERS and delete all files.
  • Restart the Print Spooler service.
  • Try printing again.

Reinstall Printer Software

  • Remove the printer from Settings → Devices → Printers & scanners.
  • Uninstall HP software from Apps & Features.
  • Download the latest drivers from the HP Support site for your model.
  • Reinstall and add the printer back.

Hope this helps, Please revert if the issue persists.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
