Microsoft Windows 11

My printer suddenly  can't seem to connect to my wifi network. It did  until July 4, 2025 and suddenly it won't. The virtual troubleshooter won't work and I can't talk to a human at HP for support. I have restarted my computer, my modem and router and my printer. It finds the network when I search but will not connect to it. So what is the problem, does anyone know?

@skatchen1, Welcome to HP Support Community,

Thank you for posting your query; I’m here to help by guiding you through steps to resolve this issue

If your HP OfficeJet Pro 8028e All-in-One Printer suddenly won't connect to your Wi-Fi network, here are some steps you can follow to troubleshoot the issue:

Step 1: Restart Devices

  1. Restart the Printer: Turn off your printer using the power button, wait for a few seconds, and then turn it back on.
  2. Restart the Router: Unplug your router, wait for about 10 seconds, and then plug it back in.
  3. Restart Your Device: Restart the device from which you are trying to print.

Step 2: Confirm Network Details

  1. Check Wi-Fi Details: Make sure you are using the correct Wi-Fi name (SSID) and password for the network.
  2. Proximity: Ensure the printer is within the range of your wireless router signal.

Step 3: Reconnect to the Network

  1. Network Settings Menu: On the printer control panel, navigate to the Wireless setup and run the Wireless Setup Wizard. This is typically found under the "Network" or "Wireless" settings menu.
  2. Re-enter Wi-Fi Credentials: Follow the on-screen instructions to connect your printer using your Wi-Fi network credentials.

Step 4: Troubleshoot with Software

  1. HP Smart App: Use the HP Smart app on your smartphone or computer to check the printer’s connection status and run network diagnostics.
  2. Update Printer Firmware: Ensure your printer’s firmware is up to date, which might require a USB connection to the computer.

Step 5: Check Router Settings

  1. Router Settings: Ensure SSID broadcasting is enabled on your router.
  2. Check for MAC Filtering: Make sure MAC address filtering is not preventing the printer from connecting. If enabled, add the printer’s MAC address to the list.

Additional Suggestions

  • Move to a different Wi-Fi Network: As a temporary fix, try connecting your printer to another Wi-Fi network to confirm if the issue is specific to your home network.
  • Factory Reset: If other solutions don’t work, you may consider doing a factory reset on the printer, but note this will clear all its settings.

I hope this helps.

Please feel free to reply here if you have any questions or if you need further clarification on any of the steps.

Take care and have a good day.
