Hi @ladylindabird,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To set up your HP Officejet Pro 8600 e-All-in-One Printer on your new Mac Mini running macOS Ventura 13.5, follow these steps to ensure it connects and works correctly.
Check Printer Connectivity
Ensure your printer is connected to your network (either via Wi-Fi or Ethernet). You can do this by printing a network configuration page from the printer's control panel to check the network connection.
Install the Latest Drivers
- Go to the HP support website and search for the HP Officejet Pro 8600.
- Download the latest macOS drivers and software for macOS Ventura.
- Open the downloaded file and follow the instructions to install the printer driver.
Add the Printer to macOS
Once the drivers are installed, you can add the printer:
- Open System Settings (click the Apple logo in the top left corner, then select System Settings).
- Click on Printers & Scanners under Hardware.
- Click the + button to add a new printer.
- Your HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 should appear in the list of available printers. Select it and click Add.
If the printer doesn't appear automatically:
- Make sure the printer is on the same network as your Mac Mini.
- If using a USB connection, connect the printer directly to your Mac Mini via USB cable.
- You may also want to try restarting both the Mac and the printer if they are not detecting each other.
Set the Printer as Default (Optional)
If you want this printer to be your default:
- In Printers & Scanners, select your HP Officejet Pro 8600.
- Click Set as Default Printer.
Test the Printer
- Try printing a test page to ensure everything is working correctly.
- If you plan to use the scanning function, open Preview or Image Capture on macOS and see if the scanner is recognized.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
