I am working for an architect and he owns this printer. I do not connect the (Officejet 7740) printer to anything until I need it. I am trying to reduce the wifi exposures. I say all this because I need to scan but the printer is only scanning half the page - can you help me fix this? without wifi?. I have successfully sent files to print with a direct computer to printer wire connection. Scanning is essential for my work. Thank you.

Ideally the printer should be connected to the modem/router using hardwire (ethernet)
According to page 99 of the users manual you must switch from USB to WiFi to Ethernet. It appears you can only use one method to connect.
if you plug in a USB cable you will disconnect the WiFi and I suspect the wifi pairing is not done automatiocally if you unplug the USB.
The printer only uses the 2.4ghz band so WiFi direct must be done at 2.4ghz, not 5ghz.
If you are scanning and only getting 1/2 a page there is something wrong on your PC or MAC.
