I'm having such a bad experience with this printer (MFP 178nw), I share this printer with all my household devices, such as several mobile phones, tablets and laptops, both Windows and Linux.
In several occasions I have to install this printer to a Windows machine just to have to install it again in the next time I need to print something. It happens with all devices, mobiles, tablets.
I need to factory reset this printer and I need support to get it installed.

I'm following the instructions you shared, but on the section about the EWS, it seems the information about the password I should use to login is missing. What should I use?
--------------
How to upgrade the firmware through the embedded web
server (EWS)
Power ON the machine and check the IP address.
Download the firmware file from hp.com/support to the PC desktop.
Turn the printer off and then back on to clear the main printer's memory.
1. Open an Internet Explorer browser and Enter the printer IP address in the URL line.
2. Click ‘Login’.
3. Login Pop up will appear and type admin account.

I ended up doing via USB cable. I successfully updated my printer's firmware and I was able to install it on multiple devices in my network. Time will tell if this is a permanent solution or will I have to reinstall it again after some time as I don't print very often.
