Common problems for Connectivity Issues
We would like to share some of the most frequently asked questions about Printer Wi-Fi, Connectivity Issues and Offline Status. Check out this link: HP printer is offline or unavailable.
HP Recommended

Hi,

I cant print anything from my laptop to my printer, I have tried restarting both devices and the router.

The printer is showing as connected (Blue light and in network settings) but then a message pops up on the printer screen as says connection unavailable.

I can print of my phone to the printer and it prints network reports. so clearly a connectvity issue.

Can someone please point me in the right direction to get this sorted.

Hi @Andyrutt,

Welcome to the HP Support Community!

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding printer connectivity issues!

We're thrilled to have the opportunity to assist you and provide a solution.

It sounds like you're experiencing connectivity issues specifically between your HP OfficeJet Pro 9730e printer and your laptop. Since the printer is able to connect to the network and print from your phone, the issue might be related to the connection or settings between the laptop and printer. Here are some steps to troubleshoot and resolve the problem:

Check Network Settings on Laptop:

  • Ensure that your laptop is connected to the same Wi-Fi network as your printer.
  • Confirm that there's no active VPN connection that might be interfering with local network access.

Remove and Reinstall Printer Drivers:

  • Uninstall the existing printer driver from your laptop.
  • Download the latest driver from the HP Support website and reinstall it to ensure you have the most up-to-date software.

Check Firewall and Security Settings:

  • Ensure that any security software or firewall settings on your laptop are allowing communication with the printer. You may need to adjust settings to permit access.

Set Printer IP Address Manually:

  • Access your printer's Embedded Web Server (EWS) using the current IP address visible in the printer's network settings.
  • Assign a static IP address within your router settings to ensure stable connectivity between your devices.

Reset Network Settings:

  • On the printer screen, go to the Network menu and reset the network settings. Then reconnect it to the network to refresh all connections.

Check Network Band:

  • Ensure that both your printer and laptop are connected to the same network band (either 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz).

I hope this helps.
