HP Envy 6132e All-in-One Printer

I have, unfortunately, purchased An HP Envy and it's given me nothing but trouble in connecting to my wireless network. The network test results tell me that because my network name is one given by Ziggo (and similar to other Ziggo names in the area), I must change my network name. This means I would also have to change my password and reconnect all mu devices and boosters, which I am not prepared to do.  My name and password have been given to me by Ziggo and are guaranteed to be unique.  How can I override this and connect to WiFi? My router name is none of your business.

Hi @Lesley1973,

Welcome to the HP Support Community.

I understand your concern. You should not have to rename your Ziggo Wi-Fi network simply because the printer reports that the network name is similar to other networks nearby. If your network name and password are already unique, we can work through the printer's wireless setup without asking you to change the router name.

I checked the current HP information for the ENVY 6132e, and HP provides specific wireless troubleshooting and a Restore Wi-Fi setup mode procedure for this printer series.

Let's reset only the printer's Wi-Fi setup
If the printer is currently stuck trying to connect:

  1. On the printer's touchscreen, open the wireless/network settings.
  2. Select the option to Restore Network Settings / Restore Wi-Fi Setup Mode
  3. Confirm the reset.
  4. Wait for the printer to return to Wi-Fi setup mode.
  5. On your phone or computer, make sure you are connected to your normal private Ziggo Wi-Fi network
  6. Open the HP app and select Add Printer / Set Up a New Printer
  7. Follow the HP app instructions to connect the ENVY 6132e to your existing Wi-Fi network.

HP identifies the HP app as the recommended setup method for this printer series.

Do not change your Ziggo network name or password at this stage. We first want to see whether the printer can join the existing network after its Wi-Fi settings have been reset.

If the printer again reports that the network name is unsuitable or refuses the connection, stop there rather than changing your router settings. Tell me the exact wording of the message shown on the printer, as that will be important for determining the next HP-supported step.

If possible, also share a clear photo of the exact network/error message on the printer's screen. You can leave the actual Wi-Fi name/password hidden; I only need to see the error and the available options.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
