HP OfficeJet Pro 9020
Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hi

I have an HP Officejet Pro 9020 printer at I purchased 18 months ago and setup on a Windows 10 local network connection and has been working fine until this week, 4 PC’s stopped printing showing the printer was offline, I tried removing the printer and reinstalling it using HP SMART tool but the app was unable to find the printer on the local network but did see it has a wireless printer, the only way I could restore a local connection was to remove the printer and add a printer in Windows settings using the IP address of the printer to connect. Although I can now print I am unable to scan documents, I have downloaded a ran HP Print & Scan Doctor with similar problems to HP Smart, at the end of the diagnostics scan I received an Error Code: OW_4XX_OWSFW00000.

Can anyone help solve this problem.

 Hi @Peter-Tazam,

I'd like to help with the printer connectivity issue.

Try the below suggestions -

Use HP Print and Scan Doctor to check connectivity

Download a special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions.

  1. Download HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  2. Run HPPSdr.exe from the download location on your computer.
  3. Once HP Print and Scan Doctor opens, click Start, and then select your printer.
    • If your printer in not in the list, turn it off and on, and then click Retry.
    • If there is a connection problem, follow the instructions in HP Print and Scan Doctor.
  4. If a screen prompts you to turn on printer updates, click Yes.
  5. If a screen prompts you to make your printer the default printer, click Yes.

Set a manual IP-

To set a manual IP and try the steps below -

--->Touch on the wifi icon ((i)) on the printer, and take down the IP address

--->Open a web browser (ex Chrome or Mozilla) and type in the printer's IP

--->then go to network ---> general ---> network protocols ---> select IPV4 only-->apply

--->go to wireless ---> wireless 802.11---> select manual ip ---> apply

--->Enter 8.8.8.8 for the first DNS and 8.8.4.4 for the second DNS.

--->then go to settings on the main ews page --> power management ---> select sleep mode to max 15min

Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I’m still having problems with the computer showing the printer to be ‘offline’ when I run the special version of HP Print and Scan Doctor specifically created to help with printer offline conditions it will put the printer back online, this fix works okay for a couple of days then the printer will go back offline again, it’s getting very annoying that I have to keep running HP Print and Scan Doctor to fix this problem, can you suggest anything more I could try.

I have applied the ‘select IPV4 only’ in the network protocols

The wireless (802.11) menu is not has you describe it above, if I was to select ‘Manual IP’ do I need to enter the IP Address/Subnet Mask/Default Gateway in the IP Address Configuration. Has we do not use the printer has a wireless printer is this part necessary.

The Power Management section menu is not has you describe it there is no sleep mode to max 15min, is the ‘Energy Save Mode’ after 15mins the same.
