Hi @Dp29402,
Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
To resolve the issue with your HP DeskJet Ink Advantage 4178 All-In-One Printer and your Android phone, try the following steps.
Restart Devices: Restart both your printer and your Android phone. This can help refresh their network connections.
Reconnect Printer to Wi-Fi:
- On the printer's control panel, navigate to the Setup menu.
- Select Network or Wireless Settings.
- Choose Wireless Setup Wizard and follow the prompts to reconnect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
Forget and Reconnect Wi-Fi Network on Phone:
- Go to Settings on your Android phone.
- Tap Wi-Fi and find your network.
- Tap the network and select Forget.
- Reconnect to the network by selecting it again and entering the Wi-Fi password.
Check Printer's IP Address:
- On the printer's control panel, find and print a network configuration page. This usually can be found under Setup > Reports > Network Configuration Page.
- Ensure the printer has a valid IP address that matches your network's range.
Update HP Smart App: If you are using the HP Smart app to print, ensure that it is updated to the latest version from the Google Play Store.
Re-add Printer in HP Smart App:
- Open the HP Smart app on your phone.
- Tap + to add a new printer and follow the prompts to reconnect it to your network.
Reset Network Settings on Printer:
- If the above steps don't work, you can reset the network settings on the printer. This option is typically found under Setup > Network Setup > Restore Network Settings.
Check Router Settings: Ensure that there are no restrictions on your router that could be preventing the printer and phone from connecting. Sometimes network isolation features or firewalls can block devices from communicating.
After trying these steps, your Android phone should be able to reconnect to the printer over Wi-Fi.
I hope this helps.
Take care and have a good day.
