Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit)

Hello, I recently received a new Cox Panoramic router/modem, and the computer will not connect to the printer.  The HP Envy 7800 printer is working independently, and it comes up with an OffLine Message.  The computer and printer seem to have different IP addresses and I'm unable to resolve this problem after several hours and attempts at different solutions.  New drivers installed, HP smart Printing troubleshooting fails, IP addresses located on both devices, Cox App reset options, several reboots both PC and Printer, deleted documents that are in que, and have exhausted my abilities.

Hi @MarkD13,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

It sounds like you've already done quite a bit of troubleshooting! Let's try to address the issue step by step:

Check Network Settings: On your computer, go to the network settings and make sure it's connected to the correct network (your new Cox Panoramic router). Also, ensure that it's set to obtain an IP address automatically (DHCP).

Printer Settings: On your printer, navigate to the network settings and ensure it's connected to the same network as your computer. Check the IP address assigned to the printer and make sure it's on the same subnet as your computer (typically the first three sets of numbers in the IP address should be the same).

Router Settings: Log in to your Cox Panoramic router's admin interface (usually by typing its IP address into a web browser) and check the DHCP settings. Make sure DHCP is enabled and there are enough IP addresses available in the DHCP pool.

Static IP Assignment: If you prefer, you can assign a static IP address to your printer. This ensures that the printer always has the same IP address, which can make it easier to manage. You can usually do this in the router's settings by assigning a specific IP address to the printer's MAC address.

Firewall/Antivirus: Sometimes firewall or antivirus settings can interfere with network connections. Make sure that your firewall or antivirus software is not blocking communication between your computer and printer.

Printer Offline: If your printer is showing as offline on your computer, try right-clicking on the printer icon in the Devices and Printers window and select "Use Printer Online" or a similar option.

Printer Drivers: Double-check that you have the latest printer drivers installed on your computer. Sometimes outdated drivers can cause connectivity issues.

Restart Everything: Sometimes a simple restart of your router, printer, and computer can resolve connectivity issues. Make sure to turn them off, wait for a few minutes, and then turn them back on in the following order: router, printer, and then computer.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
