HP DeskJet 2855e All-in-One Printer

Just set up my new printer, it'll print a picture, but if i want to print a document, it asks me for my Server URL and i don't know how to find it.  If anyone can help, i'd appreciate it.

Hi @Shifshapeter, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
It seems like your printer might be looking for a specific server URL for network printing, which can happen if it's trying to connect to a cloud print service or network printer setup. Here's what you can try to resolve the issue:

Check the Printer's Network Connection:

  • Make sure the printer is connected to the correct network (Wi-Fi or Ethernet). You can check the connection status from the printer's control panel.

Reinstall the Printer:

  • Sometimes, reinstalling the printer drivers can fix connection issues. Go to Devices and Printers on your computer, remove the printer, and then reinstall it using the setup guide from HP's website.

Use the HP Smart App:

  • Download the HP Smart app on your computer or smartphone. It will guide you through the printer setup process and can help with network issues or errors.

Check Printer's IP Address:

  • If you're using a network printer, you can try entering the printer's IP address instead of a server URL. To find your printer's IP:
    • On the printer's display, go to the Network Settings or Wi-Fi Settings and look for the IP address listed there.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
