Hi @MaggieZ8 ,
Welcome to The HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
I understand you're facing issues getting your HP DeskJet 4130e All-in-One Printer connected to your new 5G router wirelessly. Here's a step-by-step guide to resolve this:
1. Verify Printer and Router Compatibility
- Ensure your printer supports a 5 GHz Wi-Fi connection. Many printers only support 2.4 GHz networks. If your router offers a dual-band connection, enable the 2.4 GHz band in your router settings.
- Name the 2.4 GHz network differently (e.g., "YourNetwork_2.4GHz") to avoid confusion.
2. Restart Everything
- Turn off the printer and unplug it.
- Restart the router: Unplug it, wait for 30 seconds, and plug it back in.
- Reconnect your computer to the Wi-Fi network.
- Plug the printer back in and turn it on.
3. Reset the Printer's Network Settings HP printer setup (Wi-Fi network)
To start fresh:
- Press and hold the Wireless button (or Wi-Fi button) and the Cancel button on the printer until the Power button starts blinking or the Wi-Fi light flashes.
- Wait for the printer to reset and enter setup mode. The wireless light should blink.
4. Use the HP Smart App to Reconnect HP printer setup (HP Smart app)
- Download HP Smart from the Microsoft Store or HP's website.
- Open HP Smart and click Set up a new printer.
- Follow the prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network.
- Enter the Wi-Fi network name (SSID) and password when prompted.
- Ensure your computer is on the same network band as the one you’re connecting your printer to.
5. Update Printer Firmware Update the firmware on an HP printer
- Go to the HP Support page.
- Search for your printer model (DeskJet 4130e) and download the latest firmware update.
- Install the firmware via USB if necessary.
6. Router Settings (if the issue persists)
- Disable any settings like MAC address filtering, Wi-Fi isolation, or Smart Connect that might block the printer from connecting.
- If possible, ensure the router is set to WPA2-Personal or WPA3-Personal security mode.
If the above doesn't resolve the issue:
- Temporarily connect your printer via USB and set it up as a wireless printer through the HP Smart app.
- Check for driver updates on HP's website specific to your printer and Windows 11.
