I've changed my internet provider and cannot for the life of me figure out how to connect my HP printer to my new wireless network - help! I'm using my HP Smart app and it's not finding the printer.

Hi ScottatRoll,
I ended up connecting the printer via cable to my laptop where I was able to reset and ‘forget’ the printer and then I installed it as if it was new. From there I was able to set up the wifi and it then worked without cable from phone and laptop.
Hope this helps!

Hi,
Make sure there is no USB cable connected to the printer, a cable connection prevents the wireless setup so if any such is connected temporarily disconnect it till connecting the printer.
You would need to restore the network settings next, as listed for HP Laser Printer in below document (the steps applies for your printer model too, although listed it is not for Laserjet:
https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/ish_1780623-1698506-16
Once restoring the network settings make sure you are wirelessly connected to your home network and that an HP-Setup nearby wireless network is listed, then open HP Smart and follow the steps to reconnect the printer to your network.

I followed the instructions: held down wireless and the cancel buttons until the wireless and power lights blinked, placed the printer near the WIFI router, paper is loaded in the main tray, opened the HP Smart app, it could still not find the printer. Tried again, this time when I held down the wireless and cancel buttons the printer produced a Wireless Network Test Report, which said the HP printer cannot find your wireless router (which was 5 feet away, connecting to a number of other devices with no issues). I can see further down in the report in the configuration summary that it's still showing my old network name, so all of these actions are not helping me find the new network.

Forgot to add, there is no USB cable connected. I'm considering purchasing a USB to printer cable at this point, but I don't want to be tied to a wired connection, this worked OK on my old network. This is a wireless-enabled printer, shouldn't be this difficult to change the wireless network. Appreciate any help you can give me!

Be sure to carefully follow the information and listed, be sure not to release the button till the Attention light blinks, not the wireless or power light as you describe, it should take about 10 seconds later and not immediately with the power or the wireless light...
If it still fails be sure to evaluate your wireless network list on your device when you follow HP Smart, does it show an HP-Laserjet-M29 network?
If HP Smart still doesn't list your printer for Set Up, also try connecting to this HP-Setup network, you would likely get an alert as there is no internet access, then return to the HP Smart app and check if it offers to set up the printer now.

Yes, same for me as JulWes, there is no HP set-up network, there is no HP Laserjet MFP network, there is no "extra" network of any sort (checked on both my laptop and android phone). I held the wireless and cancel buttons down for a good 13 seconds (per the instructions, "For most HP printers without a control panel menu: Press and hold the Wireless and Cancel buttons until the Wireless and Power lights blink."). What happens after that lengthy holding of buttons is not the creation of a set-up network, but instead the printer spits out a "wireless network test report" that tells me what I already know, that the printer cannot find my wireless network, which makes sense because the one it's looking for no longer exists.

Thanks for this, JulWes! I was thinking of buying a printer cable (if one came with the printer no idea where it is now) and trying this, but I was concerned that it would only serve to give me a wired connection, which I don't want as an ongoing thing. That's great to hear that you were then able to set up the WIFI, I'll try it. Thank you!

JulWes, thanks much, it worked! Got a printer cable locally (more $ than over the internet but didn't want to wait), deleted my previous printer driver, connected the cable, downloaded new driver, pretty quickly got the printer on the new WIFI network, was able to print from my phone then, had a bit of a frustrating time getting the software properly installed on laptop, reinstalled, still didn't work but somehow eventually it did. Great to be up and running again, thanks for your feedback!
