I have just purchased a Laserjet 4002dn and have finally managed to connect it to the computer. But it's just not printing when I click on print. Makes a noise that's all.

Hello @ando51, Welcome to the HP Support Community.

Thanks for reaching out about your query regarding the HP LaserJet 4002dn printer.

We appreciate the opportunity to assist you and are glad we could help work toward a resolution. We hope our support has been valuable.

To help us get started on resolving your issue, could you please let us know if the printer and the computer are connected to Wi-Fi or through the USB cable?

Check Basic Connections and Settings

  • Power and Connections: Ensure the printer is powered on and properly connected to your computer via USB or Wi-Fi.
  • Paper and Ink: Check that there is paper loaded in the tray and that the ink cartridges are not empty or improperly installed.
  • Print Queue: Make sure there are no stuck print jobs in the print queue. You can clear the print queue by going to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," selecting your printer, and choosing "Open queue." Right-click any stuck jobs and cancel them.

Restart Printer and Computer

  • Turn off the printer and unplug it from the power source. Wait for a minute, then plug it back in and turn it on.
  • Restart your computer to reset any potential issues.

Run HP Print and Scan Doctor

HP provides a diagnostic tool called HP Print and Scan Doctor that can help identify and fix printing issues.

  • Download and run the HP Print and Scan Doctor from the HP support website.

Update or Reinstall Printer Drivers

  • Update Driver: Go to "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select your printer, and choose "Manage." Then, click "Printer properties" and go to the "Advanced" tab to check for driver updates.
  • Reinstall Driver: If updating doesn't help, uninstall the printer driver and reinstall it. You can uninstall it from "Settings" > "Devices" > "Printers & scanners," select your printer, and choose "Remove device." Then download and install the latest driver from the HP support website.

Take care and have an amazing day!

I'm an HP Employee.
