I installed a new OfficeJet Pro 6978 printer yesterday. Now my wireless suddenly isn't working well. I'm having terrible problems trying to stream things, and websites take longer to load. Something about the wireless setup of this printer or it constantly transmitting for Instant Ink or e-printing is sucking up tons of wireless bandwidth and slowing my internet speed. I've rebooted the modem and router. I have got to get this fixed, because I need to work from home with large data transfers. How do I stop the printer from sucking up wireless bandwidth even when it's not on?

Hi @Souris,
I'd like to help!
If you have connected too many devices to your network that could slow your network.
When the printer is ON only then does it connect to the instant ink server, when it printer is OFF it's just OFF.
I recommend you reach your ISP and check what's going on with the network speed.
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.

I have the same number of devices connected as I did before -- I replaced a wireless printer with the new HP wireless printer. All I know is that I suddenly developed wireless issues after connecting this HP printer. My Internet speed is the same as before when I run a speed test. It's just wireless that's become an issue. Too much of a coincidence that it developed at the exact same time as I set up this HP printer.

Try the below steps to resolve the error -
Step 1: Reset the printer
Resetting the printer can resolve some types of slow printing issues.
-
With the printer turned on, disconnect the power cord from the printer.
-
Unplug the power cord from the power source.
-
Wait 60 seconds.
-
Reconnect the power cord to a wall outlet and to the printer.
NOTE: HP recommends plugging the printer directly into a wall outlet
Step 2: Turn off Quiet mode (Windows 10)
How to turn off Quiet mode on your printer in Windows 10.
Turn off Quiet mode using HP Smart app
-
On your computer, open HP Smart.
-
Click your printer, and then click Advanced Settings.
-
Click Settings, and then select Off.
NOTE:
If prompted for a password or PIN, enter the password previously set by the printer administrator or PIN from the label on your printer. You can find the label on the back of the printer or open the cartridge access door and look inside the printer.
-
Click Save.
Turn off Quiet mode using HP Printer Assistant software:
-
Search Windows for HP, and then double-click the name of your printer.
The HP Printer Assistant software opens.
-
Click Quiet mode icon at the top of the bar.
-
On the Quiet mode tab, select Off option and then click Save to turn off Quiet mode.
Step 3: Check the printer preferences
Selecting certain paper types or printing in Best quality can slow print speeds. Print with plain paper in Normal or Draft quality for faster print speeds.
-
Search Windows for printers, and then click Printers & scanners in the list of results.
-
Click your printer, and then click Manage.
-
Click Printing Preferences.
-
Click the Paper or Paper/Quality tab.
-
In the Type or Paper Type field, make sure Plain Paper is selected.
-
Adjust the print quality.
-
HP Inkjet and LaserJet printers:
In the Print Quality field, make sure Draft or Normal is selected.
-
HP Laser printers:
Click the Graphics tab, and then click Standard in the Quality field.
-
-
Click OK or Apply to confirm the changes.
Also, try updating the printer's firmware - HP Printers - Updating or Upgrading Printer Firmware
Hope this helps! Keep me posted.
