@BLB6, Welcome to HP Support Community.
Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.
Yes, your HP ENVY 5055 can still be connected to a new Wi-Fi network that contains an @ sign in the password. Here's how you can solve the issue where the printer's screen doesn't seem to offer the @ symbol:
Option 1: Use HP Smart App (Recommended)
The HP Smart app lets you enter the Wi-Fi password from your computer or smartphone keyboard — no need to worry about the symbol being missing on the printer screen.
Steps:
Download HP Smart:
- For Windows: Microsoft Store – HP Smart
- For Android/iOS: Search "HP Smart" on Google Play or the App Store.
Reset Wi-Fi on Printer:
- On the printer control panel, press and hold the Wi-Fi and Cancel buttons together for about 5 seconds until the Wi-Fi light starts blinking. This puts the printer into Wi-Fi Setup Mode.
Connect via HP Smart App:
- Open the app.
- Tap Add Printer or Set up a new printer.
- Follow the instructions to select your new Wi-Fi network.
- When prompted, enter your Wi-Fi password with @ using your phone or PC keyboard.
Option 2: Use WPS Push Button (If Your Router Supports It)
This skips entering a password entirely.
- On the printer, press the Wi-Fi button until it starts blinking.
- On your router, press the WPS button within 2 minutes.
- Wait for the Wi-Fi light on the printer to stop blinking — this means it's connected.
Option 3: Manually Enter @ on Printer (If Necessary)
If you still want to try typing on the printer screen:
- Sometimes the @ is hidden under a "symbols" or "more characters" menu — try pressing the * or # button repeatedly or long-pressing certain keys.
But the HP Smart app is the easiest and most reliable method when special characters are involved.
