@CLU4U, Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

To set up your HP OfficeJet Pro 9020 All-in-One printer wirelessly without using an Ethernet cable, follow these steps:

Wireless Setup Using the Printer's Touchscreen

  1. Power on the printer and ensure it's not connected via Ethernet.
  2. On the printer's touchscreen, swipe down from the top to access the dashboard.
  3. Tap the Settings (gear icon).
  4. Go to Network Setup > Wireless Settings.
  5. Select Wireless Setup Wizard.
  6. The printer will search for available Wi-Fi networks. Select your Wi-Fi network from the list.
  7. Enter your Wi-Fi password using the on-screen keyboard.
  8. Once connected, a blue wireless light should appear solid, indicating a successful connection.

Complete Setup on Windows 11

  1. Download and install the HP Smart app from the Microsoft Store.
  2. Open the app and sign in or create an HP account.
  3. Click “Set up a new printer” and follow the on-screen instructions.
  4. The app will detect your printer on the same Wi-Fi network and complete the setup.

Alternative: Wi-Fi Direct (No Router Needed)

If you don’t have access to a Wi-Fi network, you can use Wi-Fi Direct:

  1. On the printer, go to Settings > Wi-Fi Direct.
  2. Enable it and note the Wi-Fi Direct name and password.
  3. On your PC, connect to the printer’s Wi-Fi Direct network.
  4. Use the HP Smart app or Windows built-in drivers to print.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
