Product: OfficeJet 8730
Operating System: macOS 10.15 Catalina

Had this printer a few days. Having an issue with wireless / wired. My laptop (MacBook running BigSur) is wired to network, but others are wireless. For me to use the printer/scanner I have to plug in the Ethernet cable on the printer so it switches to wired.

Obviously the IP address would be different between wireless and wired, but can’t figure out why this is happening.

Please don’t ask to check router settings. This can only be a printer issue.

The printer can be only wireless or only wired.

You can't use both connections at the same time.

Hi, I understand that, but I can’t print when I’m wired when I added the printer when I was wireless.

You need to add the wired printer too so you will have 2 printers installed one wired and one wireless.

 

If you have installed your printer wireless for the first time you will not be able to print wired, only wireless.
