HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer

Hi,
My HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 All-in-One Printer is on my network along with my PC and cell phone.  I can find and print from my phone and my WIN 10 PC, but my Win 11 PC is unable to find the printer.  I've tried all the HP guidance, troubleshooting, and setup instructions with no success to get the printer to print from my PC.
Any help outside the standard hp guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Dave

Hi @Harburmaster,

Welcome to HP Support Community.

Thank you for posting your query, I will be glad to help you.

I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing issues with your HP OfficeJet Pro 6975 and your Windows 11 PC. Here are some additional steps you can try to troubleshoot and resolve the issue.

Check Network Connection:

  • Ensure that your Windows 11 PC is connected to the same network as the printer.
  • Double-check the network settings on your printer to make sure it's connected to the same network as well.

Printer Driver Installation:

  • Download and install the latest printer drivers for Windows 11 from the official HP website.
  • Remove any existing printer installations on your Windows 11 PC and reinstall the printer using the latest drivers.

Windows 11 Printer Troubleshooter:

  • Run the built-in printer troubleshooter on Windows 11 to identify and fix any common issues.
    • Go to Settings > System > Troubleshoot > Additional troubleshooters.
    • Run the Printer troubleshooter.

Firewall and Antivirus Software:

  • Temporarily disable your firewall and antivirus software on your Windows 11 PC. Sometimes, these security programs can block communication with printers.
  • If the printer works after disabling them, you may need to add exceptions for the printer in your security software settings.

IP Configuration:

  • Assign a static IP address to your printer. This can help in maintaining a consistent connection between the PC and the printer.
  • You can usually set a static IP address for your printer through the printer's web interface or the printer settings on the control panel.

Windows 11 Network Discovery:

  • Make sure that network discovery is turned on in your Windows 11 PC.
• Go to Settings > Network & Internet > Wi-Fi > Change advanced sharing options.
    • Turn on network discovery.

Group Policy Editor (Advanced):

  • Open the Group Policy Editor by pressing Win + R, typing gpedit.msc, and pressing Enter.
  • Navigate to Computer Configuration > Administrative Templates > Printers.
  • Enable the policy "Always install the best driver software from Windows Update."
  • Restart your computer.

Check Windows Update:

  • Make sure your Windows 11 PC is up-to-date with the latest updates, including printer-related updates.

After trying these steps, attempt to add the printer again on your Windows 11 PC. If the issue persists, there may be a more specific problem with the Windows 11 environment or network configuration that requires further investigation. If possible, you may also want to try connecting the printer via a different connection method (e.g., USB) to see if the problem persists.

I hope this helps.

Take care and have a good day.
