OfficeJet Pro 8600

OfficeJet Pro 8600 has had intermittent internet connection problems for 2-3 years.  To fix it in the past, I've turned off the printer, turned it back on, and it would connect to the router and I could print.  Now that method is not working.  I can't get it to connect to the router at all.  I've done all the standarrd troubleshooting steps and run the Print and Scan troubleshooting app, tried connecting my laptop to the printer with a USB cable to send info to the printer, but to no avail.  I've changed routers at least once since getting this printer and had no problem connecting the printer to the new router.  I'm at a loss what to do next.

Welcome to the HP support community.

Assign a manual IP address and that should fix the issue.

A Network Configuration Page lists important network settings such as network status and the printer IP address.

  1. Load plain, white paper in the product input tray.

  2. On the product control panel, touch the Right Arrow (), and then touch Setup. The setup menu displays.

  3. Touch the Down Arrow (), and then touch Reports.

  4. Touch Network Configuration Page. The product prints a network configuration page.

Setting a Static IP Address

Once you know your printer’s IP address from the page you printed, entering it is pretty easy. Here’s what you do:

HP Printer Static IP Address

  1. Run your Web browser.
  2. In the Web browser’s address bar, type the IP address of your printer and press Enter. Assuming you entered the right address, the HP printer control panel should appear.
  3. Click the Networking tab.
  4. Under Connections, click Wireless.
  5. Under IP Address Configuration, click Manual IP.
  6. Enter the IP address, subnet mask, and default gateway in the appropriate boxes.
  7. Click Apply.
